Finding the right home in the right neighborhood is hard enough
when you're familiar with the area. Moving to a new city is a
bigger challenge. I understand the character of every neighborhood
in the Minneapolis Lakes area and I stay on top of future plans
that add to the vitality of our community.
Relocation moves require critical communication and special
planning to represent you best. I'll work with you before you
come to town to learn your preferences and special needs. Before
you get here I'll have a clear plan of interesting homes to see
and communities to tour. And while you're in town I'll devote
all my time and energy to those days we're together.
If you need it I can also help you find temporary housing until
your home is ready. As I get to know you, I can recommend the
best rental property for your lifestyle and location needs.
Preparing for your visit
Some people like to quickly see as many houses as they can, others
like to carefully walk through every room and inspect every closet
and cupboard. I'll let you set the pace. We can meet for breakfast,
lunch, and dinner if you like. Or, we can stick with the showings
while you share dinner with friends or relatives. (See Jane’s
Favorites for some great restaurant ideas.) Grab a coffee
for the car, stop for breaks or a bite to eat? Whatever helps
you get what you're looking for in the time we have together is
up to you.
Your visit starts with a demographic overview of the area in
our relocation office. Then we're off. If you have kids and want
to see some schools, I can arrange those visits and make time
in our schedule for that as well.
A couple of tips before you arrive: Minneapolis temperatures
can vary any time of year, so check the weather for the days you'll
be here. It's a good idea to wear layers so you're comfortable
going in and out of cars and homes. And remember to wear slip-on
shoes. After two or three showings, those laced shoes get really
old!
True Story
Two years ago I worked with a couple moving here from Michigan.
His work was the reason for the transfer and she was not eager
to make another move. They had relocated to Michigan only a year
ago and had several relocation moves because of his work prior
to that. They were both in their 50's, the kids were heading for
college, and she was already feeling lonely at the thought of
a new town with no friends or family.
When she came to town to look at homes, I realized right away
that what she needed first was to see some neighborhoods and imagine
living in them. We went for coffee. She talked. I listened. I
showed her some key spots shopping, restaurants, parks,
lakes, entertainment. Then it was time to look at houses. On the
third day, she was so enthusiastic and positive about the move.
She had clearly embraced Minneapolis and knew she wanted to live
here. The couple eventually found the home they wanted, and her
husband was thrilled to have this relocation go so well for her.
